The Armour Of God

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil – Ephesians 6:11
Years ago, when engaging in heavy spiritual warfare against the enemy, an angel of the Lord appeared to Dr Rebecca Brown to give her specific instructions from Father. She was told to ask every day for Jesus to put on the whole armour of God for her as she battles the adversary. Now since every Christian is perpetually fighting one battle or another daily, this prayer applies to us too. I for one am not sure if I have ever skipped a day in praying for this war gear since I came across it.
Hence let us briefly expound on each of the elements in this armour written in Ephesians 6:13-18 from top gear to bottom gear, so we may reiterate its importance.

We know that helmets protect the head and the head is the leader of any body. If the head is struck and wounded the results are dire. It is the most important part and it requires the most important armour, salvation. Without salvation (which is the belief in the total Lordship of Jesus) the rest of the armour is useless, and such a one is easily destroyed by the enemy. Everyone can live without a hand or leg, but no head no life, no salvation no life.
Christianity doesn’t stop at earthly salvation, righteousness is its twin brother and they must work together. This breastplate of righteousness guards your heart and other very vital spiritual organs, and we know what Proverbs 4:23 says about guarding one’s heart. If the enemy can lay hold of a man’s heart righteousness is impossible. Remember, as one thinks in his heart so he is. Total belief in Jesus (salvation) makes you God’s son on earth, but only its combination with righteousness (holiness, purity) is what will take you to heaven.
Jesus is the Truth, and the Truth is the Word. This belt of truth holds firmly in place your spiritual clothing and gives you the right fitting as a son of God. The word of God must be so firmly placed in you that it resembles something tied around your waist. What an irony that something that holds us so tight sets us free. For the truth sets you free, especially from sin. You are sanctified by the truth (John 17:17).

Scripture says how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel. Now apart from the ornamental features preaching the gospel gives it also gives protection. A Christian who does not share the gospel of Jesus has not this protection, their feet are tied down by the enemy. No wonder many do not just go anywhere in life no matter how they try. Lose your feet from the enemy’s shackles and spread this gospel of peace, and watch yourself literally go places. Remember, once your feet are struck, it is very easy for you to fall.
This shield is double protection for your already protected body in Christ. Every Christian already has tremendous faith because of our belief in a God we have never seen, but this faith has to be continuous throughout our Christian journey. This unyielding faith the word of God says; shields us from the fiery darts of the wicked.

Our armour up till now has only comprised of defensive gear, but here we have an offensive weapon: the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. Of what use is a sword if it is only used to block attacks? Common, take the battle to the enemy and use God’s words to surmount him. Have no fear, you are well equipped for this battle.

This is a bonus armour gear, put it on by interceding for Christians worldwide and watch your battles become a lot shorter. Remember, the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends – Job 42:10.
Brethren this armour is priceless, for it is the one Jesus Himself uses. I urge you to join the army of God and ask for this armour daily both for yourself and loved ones. Victory is certain through Christ Jesus. Amen

  1. No Jesus, No Life. It is so comforting that Jesus came so that we may have life, life in all its fulness and how amazing is it that God ensures that we are provided with all that we need to live life victoriously despite the ups and downs we encounter.
No wonder the armour of God is so vital as a soldier in the Lord’s army.
May we all remain rooted in Jesus till we reign with him in heaven.
    God’s blessings always!
