“For the word of God is alive, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart” – Hebrews 4:12

If like me you ever wondered how we Christians could claim blessings in the bible clearly directed specifically at the Israelites, if you also wondered if the bible is sufficient to answer ALL things, then I may have your answers.

Firstly, God reminded me that Israel means ‘A prince of God’. Now if God the King is our Father and we are His sons, are we not princes of God? Therefore, all Christians are Israelites in the eyes of God. Also, Christians of old hardly had access to the written word of God as we do today. God’s message was conveyed through word of mouth. Surprisingly, those few spoken words seemed to be enough for our ancestors all through their lives. This is because God’s word -no matter how few or intangible- is always enough.

God can use the words “I AM THAT I AM” to answer questions about your career or your marriage. He can use the words “Follow me” to tell you who your future partner is. How you may ask? It’s because His word is alive, it can be made to convey any message to you that He wants, “it accomplishes whatever He pleases it to”. If you are experiencing darkness in your life right now, physical or spiritual, you can speak God’s words: “Let there be light”. The word of God once spoken continues to be spoken, “the word of the Lord endureth forever” – 1 Peter 1:25.  As He said “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life”, the Lord actually lives in His spoken words. This is why just 1 bible verse can have a 100 different meanings to different people to cater for different needs. It is also why an entire book can be written from just 1 verse of scripture, the word of God is like a seed (Luke 8:11), it has power to “grow and multiply” – Acts 12:24.

Seeing that the word of God is such a powerful tool at your disposal, what are you waiting for? Every single blessing in the bible is for you, they are there for the taking. There’s absolutely not one of them that you do not deserve, the devil only makes you doubt because he is scared of you using this great power. Think about it, none of us was there when Adam sinned, I did not eat any apple I was not commanded to. Yet God cursed man and posterity that we would work extremely hard to eat, that child birth would be full of pain, that all men will die. Because of God’s word, mankind is still paying the price for one man’s sin. Now if we can be partakers of the punishments of Adam which was given by the word millenniums ago, how much more can we be partakers of God’s blessings?!

All you have to do is pick a scripture that agrees with your prayer requests and believe, then demand that your prayers be answered. This is why Jesus said in John 5:17 that He is “always working”, saints around the world have learnt to key into His word and have clamoured for results until He answers.

Now if at the name of Jesus EVERYTHING must bow, and we know that God “magnifies His word above His name”, how much more powerful is that Word? Whenever doubts creep in about the potency of the word of God remember this; Jesus is The Word of God! As long as Jesus is alive His word is alive. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but His word shall not pass away”. Speaking the word of God into your life means speaking Jesus into your life.

Jesus is alive, powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, and much more! With His word He can even help you read minds and discern thoughts, your words too can be as sharp as a sword, your words too can be fire! Speak the Word into everything today and watch it come to life!
