There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. He who fears has not been made perfect in love. – 1 John 4:18
With the help of my Friend, the precious Holy Spirit, I have found the perfect antidote for fear, Love. Now let’s learn how to use love -according to scripture- to drive out fear!
What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? – 1 Corinthians 6:19
What is your adjective? If you were to ask a number of people who know you what adjective best describes you, what do you think their answers will be? Now what would you like it to be? Holy, knowledgeable, forgiving, hardworking?
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength – Mark 12:30
How much do you love God? If you were to rate your love for Jesus on a scale of 1-10 what would you rate it? Take a 10 second break to think and pick a number. Now what do you think is the greatest expression of this love? How do you think you can show this big God how much you really love Him? Well, I can help you with that.
Wherefore be not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is – Ephesians 5:17
Wisdom, wisdom. Many seek wisdom daily, many pray for wisdom. A number of scriptures speak of wisdom and how to get it, but the verse above simplifies it perfectly for me. According to God’s word in Ephesians 5:17 wisdom is simply knowing God’s will. Those who know God’s will are wise, those who do not are unwise, or fools. “Do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is” – Ephesians 5:17 [NIV].
I stumbled on this song on Sunday and I just can’t seem to stop listening to it. How He Loves Us by Jesus Culture. I had just typed the word Love on my music player and was listening to the search results and that was how I stumbled on this song. I had been listening to it passively till I heard the words “Heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss”. On hearing this I said to myself [please note that I’m absolutely not a racist, I was just amusing myself], anyways, I said to myself: “O gosh, these white people, talking about sloppy wet kisses in a Christian song?”. Well, for the wrong reasons the song caught my attention and I listened to it more raptly. Then the lady singing, Kim Walker-Smith, in sheer inspiration and joyful surrender to the precious Spirit of God, stopped singing and started to speak to the crowd. Her words resonated in this recording so much that it absolutely shook my spirit, and still does at every listen.
Seasons greetings everyone. It’s been a while. May Jesus continue to keep us.Below is a poem that shows how the devil uses the sins of Christians to accuse them, sometimes even with God’s word. It shows how we must rise above all sin and live as true saints of the Holy God. Savour…
Dear dear Christian, you’re such a fraud
How dare you call yourself a son of God?
God is perfect, God doesn’t sin
Yet you do it every day like it’s not a thing
What kind of joy can replace the sorrow of losing Dipo? Me getting a job? Yinka getting married? What possibly in this world can take away the sorrow that came/comes with losing Dipo my loving brother? What God? What? What did you hope to achieve by letting Dipo go? Couldn’t you have achieved whatever you wanted with Dipo still alive? Did Dipo really have to die? The poor guy. Did he really have to be the one sacrificed? What was your selection criteria? Why wasn’t it me or Yinka or anyone else. Why Dipo? What did he do?Didn’t you love him the way You loved us others? Is it really fair? I know You’re always fair so explain it to me so that I’ll understand. You still haven’t this last 12 months.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. – Romans 12:21
Not only is doing good the best way to overcome evil, it is the only way. However, oftentimes when faced with evil situations and temptations, retaliating with goodness is the last thing on our minds even as Christians. We tend towards either repaying evil for evil, repaying evil with not-evil, or doing nothing at all.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil – Ephesians 6:11
Years ago, when engaging in heavy spiritual warfare against the enemy, an angel of the Lord appeared to Dr Rebecca Brown to give her specific instructions from Father. She was told to ask every day for Jesus to put on the whole armour of God for her as she battles the adversary. Now since every Christian is perpetually fighting one battle or another daily, this prayer applies to us too. I for one am not sure if I have ever skipped a day in praying for this war gear since I came across it.
Hence let us briefly expound on each of the elements in this armour written in Ephesians 6:13-18 from top gear to bottom gear, so we may reiterate its importance.
